The history of Holy Child School dates back to 1923 when it was founded by a group of Catholic women who wanted to provide their children with a quality education. They did this by opening a small school on the corner of 8th Avenue and 65th Street in New York City.
Over time, the school grew and expanded, moving two more times before finally settling at its current location at 1855 3rd Avenue between 93rd and 94th Streets. During this time, Holy Child also received its first endowment from a wealthy businessman named Mr. William J. Rhinelander; his donation helped to fund many of the school's early expenses.
Today, Holy Child Schools has grown into three separate schools: The Bronx Campus (for students in grades K-8), Manhattan Campus (grades 9-12), and Queens Campus (grades 3-5). Each campus has its own Board of Trustees that oversees all aspects of operations for each campus including fundraising efforts and financial management strategies for each respective school's budget needs.
As we continue to build our legacy, we are grateful for the support of our investors in the form of donations and grants. These gifts have helped us provide opportunities for students who might not have had them otherwise. They have also allowed us to provide a better learning environment for current students and make improvements to our campus.
Our investors are the reason we’re able to provide a high-quality education to our students. We’re proud of our investor community, and we want to take some time to introduce you to some of them.
Below are some examples:
In 2015, Klein Family Foundation donated $1 million to the school. This was used to fund scholarships and new classrooms in honor of [his/her] mother.
In 2016, the University of Mississippi Foundation donated $100,000 toward a new science lab on campus. The lab was named after their mother in honor of her love of science. She said it was important to her "to give back to the community where I grew up."
We have many different investors who donate different amounts of money throughout the year—but no matter how much they give us or when they give it, their contributions are invaluable!
